This Practice Note provides an overview of the role and responsibilities of a claims, noticing, and administrative agent in bankruptcy proceedings, including retention requirements and scope of retention under 28 U.S.C. § 156(c) and 11 U.S.C § 327(a), and the types of services provided by a claims, noticing, and administrative agent during the Chapter 11 case under each type of retention. This Note also includes links to summaries of the local rules for retaining a claims agent in certain jurisdictions, allowing attorneys to compare rules across different bankruptcy courts.
