We have substantially revised Practice Note, Cash Balance Plans to reflect the final and proposed regulations and to help practitioners comply with these rules.
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Treasury Department recently released guidance addressing interest crediting rates for cash balance plans effective for plan years beginning on or after January 1, 2016. The IRS and Treasury also released proposed regulations providing Internal Revenue Code Section 411(d)(6) relief for transitional amendments made to satisfy the market rate of return rules.
