A Practice Note to address the impact of the Foreign Investment Law 2019 on onshore reinvestment by foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs). It considers the application of the key aspects of China's general foreign investment regime on FIE onshore reinvestment activities. This Note compares non-investment-type FIEs with other specialised foreign investment holding vehicles in China following the State Administration of Foreign Exchange's move to ease the restriction on equity investment by these FIEs with their registered capital.
