National Data Administration (NDA) (国家数据局)

A government organ administered by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), responsible for matters including:
  • Fostering the construction of data infrastructure.
  • Co-ordinating the integration, sharing, development and application of data resources.
  • Promoting the planning and construction of a Digital China, the digital economy, and a digital society.
The NDA took over several responsibilities from the Cyberspace Administration of China and the NDRC, including promoting smart cities and the exchange of information resources across industries.
The NDA was established in October 2023 according to the State Council's institutional reform plan in March 2023 (see Legal Update, NPC Approves State Council Institutional Reform Plan).
