This Standard Document has integrated notes with important explanations and drafting tips, including information on minimizing risks associated with wage deduction laws, memorializing the pay advance or loan in writing, and offering employee assistance programs (EAPs) that provide help to employees with financial problems. This Standard Document is jurisdiction-neutral and based on federal law. State or local law may impose additional or different requirements, but this Standard Document will be useful to employers in every state and provides examples of state-specific considerations.
