A release of liability (commonly referred to as a liability waiver or exculpatory agreement) given by visitors to commercial businesses and properties, such as office buildings, retail stores, and services facilities, in favor of the owner or operator of the business or property. This liability waiver is intended to protect the owner or operator of the commercial establishment against liability for claims of illness, injury, or death resulting from the visitor's exposure to contagious or infectious diseases on the business's premises during an epidemic, pandemic (such as COVID-19), or other public health emergency.
