A sample paid sick leave policy designed to comply with the most common requirements under various state and local paid sick leave (PSL) laws, with an option to also provide paid safe time leave or alternatively to allow paid leave for any reason as required in some jurisdictions. This Standard Document includes an option to grant paid leave either on an accrual basis or using an alternative frontloading method. Employers may further customize this policy by including one or more jurisdiction-specific "addenda" to modify certain provisions to comply with applicable laws. This policy applies only to private workplaces for use with their non-unionized workforce. This Standard Document has integrated notes with important explanations and drafting tips.
