An overview of the main statutory rules for the interpretation of references to EU legislation in UK legislation and in retained EU law, focusing on the rules of statutory interpretation in section 20 of the Interpretation Act 1978 and Schedule 8 to the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 which came into force at the end of the post-Brexit transition period.
