Mineral Rights

Rights to exploit, mine, or produce minerals and other extractive resources lying below the surface of a real property. An owner of the real property owns the rights and can sell or lease these rights separately from the ownership of the surface of the real property (surface rights).
Examples of minerals and other extractive resources include:
  • Coal.
  • Natural gas.
  • Oil.
  • Gold.
  • Silver.
  • Copper.
  • Iron.
  • Uranium.
