Foreign-invested investment company (FIIC) (外商投资投资性公司)

A type of foreign-invested enterprises (either wholly or partially owned by foreign investors) established in China. An FIIC is expressly permitted under the Provisions on the Establishment of Investment Companies by Foreign Investors 2004 (revised in 2006 and 2015 respectively) to hold interests in other onshore entities, also known as foreign-invested holding companies.
The separate set of rules dedicated for FIICs has not yet been repealed or amended, but it is expected that they should retire or be reconciled with China's further implementation of the Foreign Investment Law 2019 (2019 FIL). See Chinese foreign investment law: legislation tracker to monitor the progress of key China legislation enacted, repealed or amended due to the 2019 FIL reform.
