State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) (国家工商行政管理总局)

A former agency for the administration of industry and commerce in China, responsible for matters including business registration, consumer protection and advertisement administration.
The SAIC's functions have been assumed by the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) after China's massive government institutional reform in 2018 (see Practice note, Understanding the 2018 government institutional reform: China: Market supervision: a mega-sized regulator).
