National transmission system (NTS) (gas)
As used for gas, the system of high pressure pipes and other equipment owned and operated by
National Gas Transmission
(formerly called
National Grid Gas
(NGG)). The NTS comprises 7,600 kilometres of pipes and over 20 compressor stations. The NTS transports gas from the
beach
to sources of demand, including the
gas distribution networks
(GDNs), gas fired power stations and industrial users. For more information see
