Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) | Practical Law

The Directive on insurance distribution ((EU) 2016/97) (Insurance Distribution Directive or IDD) is designed to improve EU regulation in the insurance market. It repealed and replaced the Insurance Mediation Directive (2002/92/EC) (IMD) on 1 October 2018. Member states had to transpose the IDD by 1 July 2018 and had to apply it to relevant firms by 1 October 2018 at the latest.
