Our labor and employment practice comprises lawyers who are leaders and participants in labor law sections of national, state and local bar associations and other labor and employment associations, including the Industrial Research Association and the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). We represent management in labor, employment, immigration and workers' compensation matters. Client Counseling and Litigation Prevention. Our lawyers regularly advise employers on their employment policies and practices including affirmative action plans, anti-harassment training, disability accommodations, drug policies, employee handbooks, employment contracts, federal and state investigations, immigration issues, independent contractor contracts, leave issues (including FMLA), non-compete agreements, occupational safety and health issues, plant closings, privacy issues, reductions-in-force, return-to-work issues, severance plans and releases, technology matters, terminations and discipline, trade/business secrets, wage and hour compliance and workers' compensation programs.
Employment Litigation. We represent small and large employers in class actions and individual cases in state and federal courts, arbitrations and mediations. We have consciously chosen to integrate our counseling with our employment defense services; this strategy helps our clients to avoid future employment defense actions.
Management-Union Relations. Our lawyers provide traditional labor management-union services including defending unfair labor practice (ULP) charges, developing strategies to meet union organizing campaigns, grievance arbitrations, National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) issues, negotiations and bargaining, Section 301 actions, strike planning and injunctions, supervisor training, union avoidance and union decertification.
Immigration. Our immigration services cover the full scope of nonimmigrant and immigrant classifications. From handling a multistate I-9 audit for a Fortune 100 company to a routine petition, our team can bring the appropriate resources and technical skills to bear on any immigration-related issue. The breadth of our experience differs from many immigration firms because, in addition to being highly skilled immigration practitioners, many of our immigration lawyers have broader knowledge of other areas that intersect with immigration.
Workers' Compensation. Our workers' compensation lawyers represent state-funded and self-insured employers both administratively and before the Bureau of Workers' Compensation, the Industrial Commission of Ohio and various Ohio courts.
