SME growth market

A subgroup of designated multilateral trading facilities with reduced regulatory obligations for their issuers, which are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
UK SME growth market is either a:
  • A facility which:
    • is operated by an investment firm, a qualifying credit institution or a market operator whose home State is not the UK; and
    • if its operator's home State was the UK, would be a UK MTF within the meaning of Article 2(1)(14A) of UK MiFIR.
In both cases, that is registered as an SME growth market in accordance with MAR 5.10 (Market Conduct sourcebook: Operation of an SME growth market).
For example, AIM is designated as a UK SME growth market.
When considering this term in the context of financial services, reference should be made to the FCA Handbook glossary definition of SME growth market.
