Under the new law, eligible employees will receive up to $1,000 per week for up to 12 weeks of leave annually. Employers are not permitted to fire, demote, or otherwise discriminate or take adverse action against any individual who exercises these paid leave benefits. Maryland's paid leave will become available on January 1, 2025.
