US Trustee
Also known as United States Trustee and UST. An officer of the US Justice Department appointed to assist the court in bankruptcy cases. USTs are responsible for supervising the prompt and efficient administration of bankruptcy cases, including presiding at section 341 meetings, appointing and monitoring official committees, reviewing professional fee applications and disclosure statements, and taking legal action to enforce the requirements of the Bankruptcy Code and to prevent fraud and abuse.
