Estate
Also known as bankruptcy estate. The intangible entity in a bankruptcy case that contains all of the debtor's assets (including both legal and equitable interests) and liabilities as of the commencement of the case. The estate is subject to the jurisdiction of the bankruptcy court and becomes the legal owner of the debtor's tangible and intangible assets. The estate is the entity from which creditors can seek recovery on their claims.
