Confirmation

This term has multiple meanings. In the context of:
  • Bankruptcy, confirmation is also known as confirm and confirmed. The bankruptcy court's final approval of a plan of reorganization or liquidation in Chapter 11, or a payment plan in Chapter 12 or Chapter 13. A consensual plan must satisfy 14 conditions before it may be confirmed. A non-consensual plan may be confirmed only if it meets the cramdown conditions of the Bankruptcy Code. A plan must be confirmed before it can be executed.
  • Swaps and derivatives, also referred to as the transaction confirmation or trade confirmation.
