This is the second edition of the guide to good practice on service charges in commercial properties. The Guide recommends good principles to be aspired to where possible.

The following industry organisations are represented on the Working Party and have endorsed the Guide: British Council of Shopping Centres; British Council for Offices; British Property Federation; British Retail Consortium; Property Managers Association; Shopping Centre Management Group and The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

NOTE ADDED: This guide was superseded by the RICS code of practice: Service Charges in Commercial Property, which came into effect for service charges commencing on or after 1 April 2007. The second edition of that code of practice comes into effect on 1 October 2011.
