General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) (海关总署)

A government organ sitting under the State Council. The GACC has subordinate offices operating across China.
The GACC's major responsibilities include:
  • Customs control.
  • Border health checks
  • Revenue collection.
  • Smuggling prevention.
  • Compilation of foreign trade statistics.
  • Enforcement of intellectual property rights (IPR), referring to measures taken by the GACC according to law against the import and export of IPR-infringed goods.
  • Entry-exit inspection and quarantine administration (this was transferred from the dismantled General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) under China's massive government institutional reform in 2018).
(See GACC website.)
