This note considers the procedural aspects of bringing additional claims under civil procedure rule (CPR) 20, including counterclaims, claims for contribution or indemnity and claims brought by third parties in response to claims made against them.

It considers matters including whether the court's permission for the relevant additional claim is needed and, if it is, how to make the application, the form that the additional claim should take, the fees payable and the critical question of whether the additional claim will be heard separately or with the main claim.
