A Practice Note discussing employer responsibilities and employee rights under the voter-approved California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 (CPRA), effective January 1, 2023, which amended the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA), and the final, amended CCPA regulations, effective March 29, 2023. It also covers a business's obligations when providing their workforce members' personal information to service providers and third parties. This Note applies to private, for-profit businesses with employees, job applicants, independent contractors, and other workers in California covered by the CPRA.
