UK implementation of IDD | Practical Law
The Insurance Distribution Directive ((EU) 2016/97) (IDD) is designed to improve EU regulation on the sale of insurance products. The IDD came into force on 22 February 2016. Originally, it had to be transposed by 23 February 2018. However, its transposition and application were delayed by Directive (EU) 2018/411. Member states had until 1 July 2018 to transpose the IDD and had to apply it to relevant firms by 1 October 2018 at the latest.
