China unveils 2018 nationwide and FTZ negative lists in parallel | Practical Law

On 28 June 2018, the National Development and Reform Commission and Ministry of Commerce jointly released the 2018 nationwide negative list for foreign investment, which was followed shortly by a separate negative list applicable in China's pilot free trade zones (FTZ). The revisions show China continuing its reform and opening-up policy to foreign investment, and are featured by both a significantly shortened list of restrictive items and wider foreign participation in key sectors including finance, transportation, automobiles, logistics, energy and agriculture. The nationwide negative list will take effect 28 July 2018, followed by the FTZ list on 30 July 2018.
