US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS)

A US federal agency within the Department of the Interior that is responsible for conservation of fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats. USFWS:
  • Administers federal laws protecting fish, wildlife, and plants. The USFWS has jurisdiction over:
  • Manages:
    • the National Wildlife Refuge System;
    • certain national monuments; and
    • the National Fish Hatchery System.
