A Practice Note providing an overview of the federal laws prohibiting health care fraud and abuse, including the Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS), the Physician Self-Referral Law (Stark Law), the False Claims Act (FCA), select provisions of the Civil Monetary Penalties Law (CMPL), health care program exclusion authorities, criminal fraud statutes applicable to health care under Title 18 of the US Code, and others. This Note primarily addresses federal law.
