The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister has announced changes to be made with effect from April 2006, to the building regulations to improve the energy efficiency of buildings.

At the same time, Directive 2002/91/EC on the energy performance of buildings will be implemented. This will introduce requirements for new and existing buildings to meet certain energy efficiency standards.
