Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009

The Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009 (CARD Act) (15 U.S.C. § 1637) is a federal law that imposes both substantive and disclosure-oriented requirements on open-end consumer credit plans, primarily intended to enhance fairness and transparency for consumers. The CARD Act amends the Truth in Lending Act (TILA) through implementing rules issued by the Federal Reserve Board. These rules amend TILA's Regulation Z (12 C.F.R. pt. 1026).
