Financial product

For the purposes of the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 (FMCA 2013), a financial product means any of the following:
Any interest or right declared by regulation not to be a security under the Act will not be a financial product.
A managed investment product means an interest in certain managed investment schemes but does not include, for example, an equity security or a debt security (section 8(3) and (5)(a)-(b), FMCA 2013).
See also section 18 of the FMCA 2013 for the meaning of financial product in the context of fair dealing and restricted communications.
