On 8 June 2011, the European Parliament plenary session approved a resolution on policy options for a European contract law for consumers and business. The vote in the European Parliament follows a recent policy announcement by European Commission Vice-President Viviane Reding that she is considering proposing such an optional European contract law in the autumn of 2011.
