As usual, we have published our regular monthly roundup of key items for general counsel, GC Agenda China (see Article,GC Agenda China: November 2017) and separate legal updates for important legal and practical developments in this month (see Legal updates) and have updated a number of materials in the light of recent developments (see Maintenance).

New content

Competition

We have published Practice note, Chinese competition law and IPR licensing, in collaboration with Charles Pommiès of Allen & Overy.
The note discusses the application of Chinese competition law to the licensing of intellectual property rights (IPRs), and patents in particular. It explores IPR licensing and related restrictions in the light of major anti-trust issues, such as anti-competitive agreements and abuse of market dominance, as well as enforcement actions.

Corporate

We have published Practice note, Environmental protection regulation in China: overview, in collaboration with Wu Qing of King & Wood Mallesons.
The note provides a comprehensive overview of environmental law in China and looks at key practical issues including regulatory enforcement, environmental NGOs, environmental permits, emissions to air and water, environmental impact assessments (EIAs), waste, contaminated land, and notable environmental issues in asset and share sale transactions. It also addresses the specific civil and criminal liabilities for breaches of the environmental legislation.
