A Practice Note explaining how to draft and serve a request for the production (RFP) of documents (also commonly called document requests or a notice to produce documents) in a civil action in the New Jersey Superior Court, Law Division, Civil Part or in a non-foreclosure action in the Chancery Division, General Equity Part. This Note discusses an RFP's structure and content and how to draft its different sections, including the caption, introduction, signature block, definitions, instructions, and document requests. This Note also discusses the rules for serving an RFP and preparing a proof of service.
