Jackson Lewis: New Mexico Paid Sick Leave Law Effective July 1, 2022 | Practical Law

This Law Firm Publication addresses the New Mexico Healthy Workplaces Act (NMHWA) which requires private employers in New Mexico to provide all employees one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked. The sick leave can be used for absences due to the employee's illness or injury as well as family members' illness or injury and reasons relating to sexual assault or domestic abuse. Employees may use up to 64 hours of earned sick leave per the employer's defined 12-month period and may carry over any accrued, unused earned sick leave. The NMHWA is effective July 1, 2022.
