A Practice Note discussing the franchise exemptions available under the California Franchise Investment Law (CFIL) (Cal. Corp. Code §§ 31000 to 31516). This Note discusses both the exemptions and whether similar ones exist under the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) Franchise Rule (16 C.F.R. §§ 436.1 to 436.11), the federal law governing franchises in the US.
