Legal Description
The manner in which real property is identified and described. A legal description should be included in every real estate instrument that is made of public record, such as:
- Mortgage or deed of trust.
- Real estate options for real property interests related to:
- a lease;
- a purchase; or
- an easement.
Depending on the state in which the real property is located, a legal description can identify real property by one of the following description methods:
