All hospitals and facilities that participate in Medicare without dedicated emergency departments can use this policy to demonstrate compliance with requirements for Medicare Conditions of Participation. This policy also specifically contains the Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirements for non-profit hospitals and facilities. This Standard Document is based on federal law. State or local law may impose additional requirements that would need to be integrated into the policy, but this document is useful to hospitals in every state.
