This note sets out the scope of Article 8 of the ECHR, which provides a right to respect for private, family life, home and correspondence with emphasis on its relevance to public bodies and the public sector. In addition to setting out what is required by the Article 8 right, the note gives examples of areas of public law, such as childcare, education, housing, planning, health and policing, in which the Article 8 right applies.
