The CFTC has requested public input on simplifying and updating CFTC rules as part of Project KISS, an agency-wide initiative to simplify rules and regulations.
On May 3, 2017, the CFTC voted to seek public input on simplifying and updating CFTC rules as part of Project KISS, an agency-wide internal review being undertaken with the goal of simplifying rules and regulations to reduce costs and regulatory burden.
Project KISS, which stands for "Keep It Simple, Stupid," was announced in March 2017 as a response to a Trump administration executive order directing federal agencies to commence regulatory reform efforts. Though the CFTC is not covered by the executive order, it has nonetheless commenced an agency-wide simplification review.
As part of this review, the CFTC is seeking ideas and suggestions from the public on how its existing rules and regulations can be applied in a less burdensome and costly manner. It is not seeking public input to identify rules for repeal or rewrite.
