This Article also compares the 2006 Choice of Court Arrangement with the 1999 Arbitration Arrangement (and its 2020 Supplemental Arrangement) signed by the two places.
The 2019 Civil and Commercial Matters Arrangement came into effect on 29 January 2024 (see Practice Note, Enforcing Judgments Between the Mainland and Hong Kong: Civil and Commercial Matters). The 2019 Arrangement supersedes the 2006 Choice of Court Arrangement, which will only continue to apply to choice of court agreements in writing made before the commencement date of the 2019 Arrangement.
