Employment arbitration disputes are required to be decided by tribunals composed of three arbitrators, with one serving as chief arbitrator, or heard by one arbitrator for simple cases (Article 31, Law of the People's Republic of China on Labour-dispute Mediation and Arbitration 2007). Members of the tribunal are selected by relevant Employment Dispute Arbitration Commission and not by the parties.
