A representative office of a foreign company in China is a liaison office. The activities of a representative office are limited to representing the foreign investor in China and acting as a liaison office for product introduction, market research, technology exchange or other indirect business activities. It is prohibited from engaging in direct business activities or employing staff directly in China.
