Notice of Allowance (NOA)

A notice the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issues after a favorable patent application examination indicating that:
  • The application is allowed.
  • Prosecution on the merits is closed.
The notice also indicates:
  • The issue fee due and its due date.
  • The publication fee due with the issue fee, if necessary.
These fees must be paid within the non-extendable three-month period from the allowance date for the patent to issue and to avoid abandonment of the allowed application.
