An overview of the regime governing anonymisation and de-identification of personal information in China. This Note introduces the definition of anonymisation and de-identification and distinguishes the two concepts. It discusses the legal requirements and organisational and technical measures for processing anonymisation and de-identification under Chinese law. The Note also considers the risk factors associated with anonymisation and de-identification and provides practical guidance to companies in China.
