Renewables Obligation

The mechanism that provides financial support for large scale renewable electricity generation, by orders made under section 32 to 32M of the Electricity Act 1989. The RO is closed to new projects and has been replaced by low carbon Contract for Difference (CFD). See also Renewables Obligation Certificates.
