This Practice Note deals with individual termination notice obligations under minimum standards legislation. All jurisdictions in Canada have individual notice of termination requirements. The requirements addressed in this Practice Note are minimum standards only. The employment contract or the common law may provide for greater entitlement upon termination. This note applies to both unionized and non-unionized employees.
