A Practice Note explaining how to enforce arbitral awards in Maine state and federal courts. This Note explains the procedure for confirming an arbitration award in Maine and the grounds on which a party may challenge enforcement under Maine and federal law, including the New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards, the Federal Arbitration Act (FAA), and Maine arbitration law, including the Maine Uniform Arbitration Act (MUAA). This Note also briefly explains the procedure for vacating, modifying, and correcting an arbitral award in Maine.
