On September 30, 2022, the US Treasury and Commerce Departments imposed new sanctions on Russia and Belarus. The new sanctions target Russian military supporters and the defense sectors in Russia, Belarus, and other third countries. These sanctions are part of the Group of Seven Nations' (G7) response to Russia's claimed annexation of additional Ukraine territory. In addition, the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and the Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) issued guidance warning of the US's intent to aggressively impose sanctions against third countries supporting Russia's military and defense sectors.
