A Practice Note explaining how to prepare for and handle a pretrial conference under New Jersey Court Rule 4:25-1 in the New Jersey Superior Court, Law Division, Civil Part or the Chancery Division, General Equity Part. Specifically, this Note addresses the steps counsel should take before the pretrial conference, including attending the parties' meet-and-confer and drafting the pretrial memorandum that informs the court's pretrial order, what to expect during the pretrial conference, and the contents of a pretrial order. It also discusses modifying a pretrial order after the court issues it.
