A patent owner's response to a petition for post-grant review (PGR) under the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act (AIA) after the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) has instituted a PGR trial. This Standard Document includes language the patent owner's counsel may use as a starting point to respond to the grounds on which the PTAB has instituted the PGR, including an overview of the challenged patent and technological background, level of ordinary skill in the art, claim construction, and substantive responses to instituted challenge grounds.
